On February 7th 2009 the fires of "Black Saturday" devestated much of the state of Victoria, Australia, with many townships destroyed, 7000 homeless, over 170 people and untold pets, stock including many horses, and native animals lost their lives. Amongst the homes destroyed in Marysville was the mudbrick house of my own mother, handbuilt by herself 20 years ago and set in a magical green cottage garden.
Currently under construction in Victoria is a wonderful sculptural project which is being contributed to from all around the world -
"The Tree Project"

Deeply affected by the loss of so many, and my mothers hometown of Marysville, I have also made a leaf to contribute to the tree, which will be assembled and unveiled in a memory garden in the town of Strathewen later in the year. The copper leaf has been handcast into cuttlefish, with the name of "Marysville" cast directly into the piece.
"Fire Horse" was selected as part of the Equitana Asia Pacific Equine Art Prize exhibition run by Turf Monthly, and is SOLD. The exhibition was held within the Equitana horse expo on 20th to 23rd November 2008 in Victoria, Australia. More sculptures are planned in this series and will be listed for sale as they become available.
